America Latina aportes lexicos al italiano contemporaneo

  • Cruz Hilda López Castro,

This work is a historical-etymological analysis of neologisms and linguistic borrowings from American Spanish, penetrated into the contemporary Italian language. Through an extensive lexicographic inventory, the author attempts to determine if Spanish can be considered the second foreign language that has had the most influence on Italian in the second half of the 20th century. The first chapter -the most important of the volume- analyses six semantic fields: politics, Liberation Theology, music (Andean and Afro-Caribbean), typical drinks, soccer, and drug trafficking. The telenovela lexical unit is also analysed.
