The Publication is following the yearly Editions of EVA FLORENCE. The State of Art is presented regarding the Application of Technologies (in particular of digital type) to Cultural Heritage. The more recent results of the Researches in the considered Area are presented. Information Technologies of interest for Culture Heritage are presented: multimedia systems, data-bases, data protection, access to digital content, Virtual Galleries. Particular reference is reserved to digital images (Electronic Imaging & the Visual Arts), regarding Cultural Institutions (Museums, Libraries, Palace - Monuments, Archaeological Sites). The International Conference includes the following Sessions: Strategic Issues; New Science and Culture Developments & Applications; New Technical Developments & Applications; Cultural Activities – Real and Virtual Galleries and Related Initiatives, Access to the Culture Information. One Workshop regards Innovation and Enterprise. The more recent results of the Researches at national and international level are reported in the Area of Technologies and Culture Heritage, also with experimental demonstrations of developed Activities.

Vito Cappellini

Vito Cappellini Full Professor of Electrical Communications and "Professore Emerito". He obtained the degree in Electronic Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino in November 1961. In October 1975 he was nominated Full Professor in Electrical Communications at Engineering Faculty of Florence University. He was Director of Istituto di Ricerca sulle Onde Elettromagnetiche (IROE) "Nello Carrara" of National Research Council (C.N.R.) in Florence (1981-1989). He was Dean of the Engineering Faculty of Florence University (1993-1995). His main research activities regard: digital signal-image analysis and processing; digital communications; remote sensing; multimedia systems; Art-Works analysis and virtual restoration; data protection ("copyright"). He has published over 400 papers and contributed - as author and co-author - to several books printed at national and international levels. He was Director of "Uffizi Project" of C.N.R.. He has been Coordinator of some Initiatives on "New Technologies for Culture" in the framework of Events organized by Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs for "Italy in Japan". He is Organizer and Chairman (or Co-Chairman) of the yearly Event EVA FLORENCE. He has promoted the Creative Activities in Art and Science of Leonardo Da Vinci. He received several international Awards and in particular the "IEEE Centennial Medal". He is "fellow" of the IEEE, member of AEIT and AIT.
