  • Lidia Capo,
  • Antonio Ciaralli,

The miscellanea collects fifteen essays, which are arranged over the chronological span of the entire Middle Ages and the early modern age, and dedicated to issues of archaeological, documentary, codicological, economic, numismatic and social interest: a variety reflecting, albeit partially, the culture, interests and humanity which belonged to Vincenzo Matera.

Lidia Capo is professor of Medieval History at the Sapienza University of Rome. She has studied, in particular, the early Middle Ages and cultural history, meant in a broad sense; since 1990, she has published several studies on the Lombards, and has edited the edition with translation and commentary of the Historia Langobardorum by Paolo Diacono for the Fondazione Valla. Together with Vincenzo Matera, she was editing a scheduled second volume for the same series, on the texts of southern Longobardia: Erchemperto (end of the 9th century) and Chronicon Salernitanum, whose critical edition was supposed to be edited by Matera.
Antonio Ciaralli is a professor of Palaeography and Diplomatics at the University of Perugia: he has studied the history of the transmission of Roman law texts during the Middle Ages, the writings in the early Italian Vernaculars, and the writings in Latin during the Renaissance. Together with Vincenzo Matera and Vittorio De Donato, he has published the archival documents of the cathedral chapter of Benevento.
