The volume is an interdisciplinary text by several authors that makes a comparison between the two different twentieth-century ways to modernise Italy and Romania - variously inspired by external reference models -, from a political, cultural-political, political-institutional and political-economic point of view, with a particular focus on the problem of representation. The volume consists of six essays of different methodological and ideological inspiration united by the themes of the cultural and juridical-political contexts of the two countries, understood as systems in "transition", suspended between the research of their own historical characteristics and the attention towards the more advanced models of the Western world.
