“This book is the result of "excavations” carried out in the memory of Prof. Corrado Corghi over the course of 2004 and 2005. At the time, Corghi was a member of the Presidency Council of the Istituto degli Innocenti in Florence. On the occasion of the convening of the Presidency, Corghi came from his Reggio Emilia to Florence. In the evening, he used to be my dinner guest. These encounters allowed me to work broadly on the past, thanks to the very lucid memory of a man born in 1920 who dedicated most of his life to politics. On the basis of long interviews I was able to recall people and events: from fascism to Resistance, from the "times" of the Christian Democrats to the funeral of the "dead of Reggio Emilia" (1960), the Council, the season of '68. From these talks, unique documents on the lives and social history of Italians emerge. With this book, the Historical-Social Archive on the Contemporary Religious of San Gimignano presents itself, with its characteristics, to the general public and to researchers ". (A. Nesti)
