The theme of residential architecture in Siena between the 17th and 18th centuries is directly linked to a central historiographical issue concerning modern age Siena, that is, the relationship between Siena’s aristocracy and the Medici power. In fact, starting from the the second half of 17th century it is possible to observe an intensification of urban residential building interventions, with restructuring activities and new constructions, that is directly linked to the social and political representation needs of Siena’s aristocratic class. The book examines in particular some buildings, whose unpublished documents have been recently the object of study of new researches.
