Cardiovascular diseases represent a clinical area in which the need for the development of effective and sustainable care responses is most felt, in which the specialist must play a decisive role, helping to implement management strategies shared by the various health professionals and supported at the institutional level. The 200 clinical cases reported by the RIARTE project are, undoubtedly, a faithful, real and practical picture of the clinical reality in Italy with regard to the two categories observed: patients with cardio and cerebrovascular risk greater than 20% according to the SCORE risk tables and difficult-to-control hypertension patients. In both clinical cases, the adoption, in pharmacological measures, of calcium-antagonist dihydropyridine-based therapy appeared effective, safe, easy to associate with other therapies and characterized by a particularly favorable cost-effectiveness ratio.
