“On the difference between words that can’t be equated”: Reflection on the Word in Seventeenth-Century Muscovy. The article is devoted to the problem of linguistic reflection aimed at maintaining the correctness of the Church Slavonic language by removing homonymy and synonymy. The research is focused on “controversial synonyms”, the semantic relationships of which were interpreted by the scribes differently, depending on their linguistic experience. The reflection on “controversial synonyms”, analysed in the article, is presented in the form of lexicographical articles in the Kniga glagolemaja bukvy gramotičnago učenija, a linguistic work written in the seventeenth century.
