Giorgio Dandolo’s Russian, Latin, Italian & French Dictionary of 1747. The article describes a handwritten book from the collections of the scientific library of Kazan Federal University, containing the first Russian-Italian dictionary, compiled in 1747 by the Venetian Giorgio Dandolo, an employee of the Board of Foreign Affairs. The reasons for the Academy’s refusal to publish this work are discussed. The main lexicographic features of the dictionary are analyzed, including those from the point of view of critical remarks put forward by academics. The conclusion is made about the practical orientation of the grammatical essay and lexicon, written from the point of view of a foreigner and for foreigners studying the Russian language, which is the undoubted value of the work of Giorgio Dandolo.
