The volume offers agile textual summaries and is accompanied by rich illustrations, with the aim of tracing the history of assistance in Florence and its district, from the most ancient and generic hospital institutions, up to the current Health Society. The ancient and recent history of hospitals is traced in relation to the purposes of their development, highlighting the change of services and of the concept of quality itself over the time. The hospital files were created by students and staff of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, with the aim of sharing intentions and objectives that represent a more solid and effective medical education.
