The volume Florentia. Studi di archeologia: vol. 5 - Special Issue - Studies in Honor of Guido Vannini is a tribute to the career and outstanding contributions of Professor Guido Vannini, former professor at the University of Florence, Director of the School of Specialization in Archaeological Heritage, as well as founder of the Chair of Medieval Archaeology and the Italian Archaeological Mission “Petra Medievale” in Jordan. The volume gathers essays by friends, students, and colleagues that offer an interdisciplinary reflection on medieval archaeology and beyond, ranging from epigraphy to the reconstruction of historical landscapes, from zooarchaeology to the analysis of processes of urbanization and Christianization, paying homage to the breadth and depth of Vannini’s pioneering work and commitment in the field of archaeological studies, both in Italy and abroad.
