The book collects a selection of the works presented in various meetings held in different places connected to the biographical story of Paolo Mantegazza. All the works aimed to recover and enhance Mantegazza's cultural heritage. Eclectic figure of scientist, novelist, communicator, politician, Paolo Mantegazza (1831-1910) played a leading role in Italian culture and society at the end of the 19th century; the contributions of scholars from different disciplines allow reconstructing both the large variety of his personal interests and peculiarities, and the profound methodological rigour that has guided his whole scientific production and which represents the strongest sign of his modernity.
