Journals

The first issue of Oral Archives Journal (OAr), the new journal of the Department of Philology and Literary Criticism, will be published in 2025. OAr represents the virtual meeting place for those who, from different perspectives, deal with oral and voice archives: it intends to fill a gap in the Italian publishing world and to connect academia with public and private institutions that curate oral sources in various capacities.

Series

The series Open Geo - Geografia, esperienze e società del Dipartimento di Scienze sociali, politiche e cognitive (divided into three thematic areas: Theories, Methods, Applications and Manuals) will be dedicated to the publication of new contents and research using geographical approaches (human, nature-society and GIScience) from both a theoretical and applicative standpoint, focusing on policy and project dimensions for solving current problems that have a spatial dimension. In particular, it will privilege topics concerning the challenges of Agenda 2030, of open science, of digital transformation and of networks and communication.

The aim of the series Teoria e storia della novella moderna will be to promote historical and theoretical studies on the modern Italian novella, with particular reference to its apogee (from the 1870s to 1930s).

The series Studi di antichistica aims to give space, in open access and with an outstanding Scientific Committee, to studies related to the ancient world conducted at the Department of Philology and Literary Criticism of the University of Siena and in the context of projects and collaborative networks related to it. The name, ‘Studies in Antiquity’, avowedly generic, programmatically reveals an inclusive project open to all branches of classical studies: philology, literary studies, history, philosophy, palaeography, papyrology, epigraphy, archaeology, anthropology, law, reception and fortunes, and iconography.
