The series takes its cue from and furthers the project presented in the volume entitled Public History of Education: riflessioni, testimonianze, esperienze , edited by Gianfranco Bandini and Stefano Oliviero (FUP, 2019), and aiming to promote historical knowledge in the field of education and among education professionals. It offers reflections and practical proposals to schools and local communities, in the belief that history is indispensable for educating citizens, training and updating education and care professionals, promoting the development of local communities, and safeguarding and enhancing both material and immaterial cultural heritage. The Public History of Education, understood in this way, can create new fruitful relationships between formal, non-formal and informal education, between the past and the present of educators and teachers, between the world of research, cultural institutions (such as museums, libraries, and archives), local administrations, and general society.
Authors are cordially invited to submit proposals and/or full manuscripts to the series editors, gianfranco.bandini@unifi.it, p.giorgi@indire.it and stefano.oliviero@unifi.it.
All books published in the series undergo peer review.
The series fully supports Open Access publishing as an ideal tool for sharing ideas and knowledge in every research field with an open, collaborative and non-profit approach. Open Access books allow the research community to achieve a high research impact as well as rapid dissemination in any editorial form.
